In addition to financial support granted in the current 6-year contract (2007-2013) binding the State and the Regions, the Center for Molecular Biophysics is involved in research programs funded by the CNRS and also by non-profit public and associative organizations: the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR, National Research Agency), the Institut National du Cancer (INCa, National Cancer Institute), the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES, National Space Studies Center), the Conseil Régional du Centre (CRC, Centre Regional Council), the European Community, the Cancéropôle Grand Ouest (Western France Cancer Research Cluster), the Association pour la recherche sur le cancer (ARC, Cancer Research Association), the Ligue nationale contre le cancer (National Cancer League), the Association nationale de recherche contre le sida (ANRS, National AIDS Research Association), the Fondation pour la recherche médicale (FRM, Medical Research Foundation), the Association française contre les myopathies (French Myopathy Association), Vaincre la mucoviscidose (Conquer Mucoviscidosis), the Fondation Jérôme Lejeune and Biotechnocentre.

Some of the research teams at the Center for Molecular Biophysics take part in the activities of the special interest groups Génomique fonctionnelle et Structure des protéines appliquées à la Signalisation et à la Transcription (GSST) (Functional genomics and protein structure applied to signalling and transcription) and SOLEIL, and are members of the regional cluster on imaging, Centre Imagerie. .

The Center for Molecular Biophysics also collaborates with many private companies, ranging from start-ups (Nucleosyn, Glycodiag, …) to large national and international groups (LVMH, Laboratoires Servier, Pierre Fabre médicaments, EDF, Abbott Spine, …).

The Center for Molecular Biophysics takes part in the activities of the competitiveness cluster “Cosmetics and Welfare sciences’ set up within the region.

Strong national roots and international cooperation

A large number of publications by the Center for Molecular Biophysics are the result of research carried out jointly with French and European teams.

The CBM works in close collaboration with many laboratories in major French research organizations (other CNRS units, universities, Inserm, CEA, etc.), as well as with many foreign laboratories both within Europe (Great Britain, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, etc.) and beyond (United States, Canada, India, Southern Africa, etc.).

Among the European collaborative research efforts, the cooperation with Poland deserves a special mention, thanks to the agreement between the Jagellonian University in Krakow, the University of Orléans and the CNRS in which the Center for Molecular Biophysics is particularly involved.

In May, 2013 the team “Reconnaissance cellulaire et Glycobiologie” and the “Department of Medical Biotechnology” (Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology of the University Jagellonne) created an Associated International Laboratory (LIA) “MIRTango”. This creation allows to share the money of two teams and favors exchanges of knowleges, researchers and students. The studies concern a project on microARNs, new markers and regulators of tumoral angiogenese. This innovative approach constitutes an important step in the field of anticancer therapies.
