Project UFO

Project UFO

Summary

The current trend in cosmetic formulation is moving towards a reduction in the number of ingredients to avoid undesirable effects on both humans and the environment. This includes limiting the use of ingredients derived from chemical synthesis. The Hydrofeeling® technology, developed by the company GENIALIS (Patents WO2010149668 and WO2017037372), is based on ultrasonic exposure of the product. It enables the stabilization of solutions or emulsions without the addition of solubilizing or emulsifying surfactants. This innovative alternative eliminates the need for additives and opens up attractive possibilities for simplifying the formulas of dermo-cosmetic products. In addition to making products more economical and environmentally friendly, Hydrofeeling® could potentially enhance their effectiveness. The skin's barrier function is a natural obstacle that can significantly reduce the penetration and, therefore, the effects of cosmetic actives. Formulations need to promote the diffusion of actives to produce their effects without compromising the biological functions of the skin barrier. The objective of the UFO project is to develop a multi-methodological analytical approach that provides a comprehensive solution to the objectification needs of Hydrofeeling® cosmetic products. This involves determining penetration profiles and/or kinetics and studying molecular interactions at the skin level.
