Engineer (IE) position: Synthesis and functionalization of superparamagnetic ironoxide nanoparticles (SPIONs)
Published on Feb. 6, 2026Contract: Temporary engineer (IE) position starting as soon as possible (9 months)
Skill area: Chemistry, synthesis, and functionalization of SPIONs
Presentation of the research laboratory (UPR CNRS 4301 CBM – NMNS, Tours):
The research unit "Nanomedicines and Nanoprobes" is a department of the UPR CNRS 4301 Center for Molecular Biophysics and is situated at the faculty of pharmacy of the University of Tours. The research activity of this unit focuses on the development and the study of biocompatible nanosystems for therapeutic and/or diagnostic applications.
Missions:
The candidate will synthesize functionalized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) based nanovectors. The aim of this position is to optimize and scale up the existing protocols in order to have well characterized batches for further formulation of SPION-based nanovectors and biological evaluation on Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) models. The candidate will be integrated in a collaborative project entitled “Magnetic control for improved combination therapy in Triple Negative Breast Cancer (MAGCOT)”, including three French teams and one Italian team, funded by the Institut National du Cancer (INCa, PLBIO22). The formulation and biological evaluation of the nanovectors will be done by a post-doc student in collaboration with the two French teams.
Candidate profile:
The applicant should posses a solid experience in chemistry. An expertise in the synthesis of SPIONs as well as an expertise in SPIONs characterization techniques are a strong asset.
